interference and range issues. Your best bet is to find
something in the UHF band. Cheaper VHF
microphones tend to produce a lot of static, while
UHF mics are generally pretty clear.
With wireless microphones, I personally recommend
rechargeable
models. This avoids having to replace
batteries, and most rechargeable microphones last
more than 12 hours on a single charge, so there is little
chance of a
dead
microphone in the middle of a gig.
VocoPro makes several very nice models of
rechargeable, UHF microphones that are relatively
inexpensive and of high quality.
If you use non-rechargeable mics, make sure you have
extra batteries handy. In any case, you still should
have at least one
wired
microphone on hand, in the
event something goes wrong with the wireless ones.
You may have an interference problem at a specific
venue causing your wireless microphones to
malfunction.
Microphone Techniques
There are several rules of thumb to consider when
actually
using
a microphone. First, never talk
into
the
mic, rather you want to talk
across
the mic. Talking
into
the mic will result in your breath being heard, as
well as a phenomenon called a
hard “P"
. This is
where pronouncing the letter “P" results in a loud
