Karaoke Summit
« on: September 18, 2015, 01:32:35 PM »
Checkout this link for the Karaoke summit 2015.  They'll be live streaming it on October 22 at 1pm EST.

I watched the last one in 2013, there was none that I know of in 2014.  This a must watch for KJs as it helps us understand how the landscape is changing.  I'm not sure how the copyright laws in regard to Karaoke are changing, but that was a hot topic on 2013.  So it's something I'll be watching for as well.  I also want to see what the new owners of Sound Choice will be doing.  One of the previous owners spoke at the last one. My understanding is that they're about to start producing new tracks again.

Hi Ron:

You didn't miss much...it was a big anti-piracy info-commercial and a big commercial for KaraoQ.com which is apparently an app (android and ios) which let's people submit their song directly to you (KJ) and links it to their social sites.  It allows people to tip you directly and even bump themselves or their friends on the queue (via a larger tip).  They apparently have push notifications so that when you need to call up the next person, it vibrates their phone to notify them they're next. They don't explain how it works at the KJ end (not even their website) www.karaoq.com.  It's free to all patrons and also the KJ, but they keep 25% of your tips and bumps.  It works with the venue too.  They don't explain how either, but they can use the app to purchase food and drinks directly from the app...they also keep 25% of the in-app purchases.

The last one was more informative than this one.  I understand that they need to touch the subject of piracy but they just kept going on with it.

They recorded the whole thing, if you want to watch it.  They broke it up into segments so that's easier to watch what you want and ignore the rest.  Here's where you can watch it.
