Awesome, that's the kind of feedback I like to hear! Thanks so much for supporting VDJ, makes all the work worth-while.

I did let VDJ go into a bit of a slump for a couple of years, but now that I've picked it back up, I can't seem to stop working on new features, ideas, and improvements. I personally got back into DJing, making VDJ my main priority, and it's always good to hear that those efforts are appreciated :)

Not to worry, I don't plan to stop any time soon. Look for an update later in the week with Saved Singers, and I'm thinking of adding some new options (double-click to launch - I took that out due to accidental double-clicks... and some other options).

One day in the future I do plan to add video support, along with audio visualizations on the CDG screen when not playing Karaoke. Those are big tasks but I plan to tackle them this summer.

I would change how the Key Adjust works, but usually when I change something that people are used to (even if the current way is unintuitive or backwards) people get very upset... that's why I added back the "classic" mode, lots of users preferred the old way over the integrated setup - so now you can have it whichever way you prefer.

You're right about the Venue thing. I've been playing with the new tab, and that just adds more confusion, so I've already removed it. It will simply list the Singer's name on the left, and when clicked their songs appear on the right. I might add a Properties page or something so you can add notes, their full name, contact info, requested songs you need to get for them... or whatever you like.

As for song times, yeah, I might go ahead and do something like that. The Playlist now shows the times - I had to release a minor update to fix a glitch where the Trial version expired too soon, so I went ahead and published what we have so far, including the new changes.

We are working on some new features for the next release, 6.4, which will hopefully be released sometime in June. Of course this will still be a free upgrade for all 6.x users, so keep those suggestions coming!

Right now, we've added a feature to show the song time on each song in the Playlist player. A right-click will show you both the total playlist time, as well as the time remaining in the playlist. Very handy while DJing, to know that you have enough music for the next hour, for example.

Next, we're working on a "Saved Singers" tab in the Music Search/Karaoke Singers section. This will allow you to save your singers, along with the songs they sing, for future use. VDJ will automatically (optionally) save each singer and any song they perform, so that you can call up their favorites each and every time that singer comes up.

I was thinking of adding a "Venue" option as well, to save singers based on which venue (bar, club, event, etc) that singer applies to, but I'm not sure - what do you think? You would of course be able to add a singer (and their songs) to more than one "venue", but I'm worried that might get too complicated...

... so maybe just "singers" and their songs...

A preview will be available later this week, and I'd love to hear your feedback.

As for the Playlist features, I'll attach a screenshot showing what we're working on so far...

I think you're right, we should add a simple checkbox to show/hide the header/footer text. We're also thinking of adding other options, like current song name or singer's name...

As for the key adjustment, it does reset when you start another song *unless* you do so by right-clicking in the Singer's list. This was an oversight, and will be fixed in the next update :)

We've been working very hard the last few days, perfecting the newest release of Virtual DJ Studio. We are proud to announce version 6.3.

New features:

- Singer's Name in the Singers List shows in the Player Line as well
- Edit and Auto-Cleanup of Song Title in Singers List
- More fixes and tweaks to the Drag and Drop operations
- Completely Rewritten Help File

The Help File included with VDJ was last updated in 2006, so we decided to rewrite it to include all of the new features. Be sure to browse through it.

Soon we will make a new walk-through video for the new version.

Something that always bothers me is when you add a Karaoke song to the Singer's list, you have to edit the song title to be more friendly on the CDG screen. Many of my files are named with the Disc number etc.

So I'm working on a simple feature. Pressing 'F7' quickly attempts to automatically "clean up" the song title.

For example:

SC2103-04 Metallica - Enter

 - becomes -

Metallica - Enter Sandman

It looks for strings of ALL CAPS, with at least one digit and one special character (hyphen, underscore, dot) and no more than one space... then lops that off of the beginning, along with any remaining spaces and hyphens/underscores..,.

It's tricky to determine what's garbage and what isn't, but it's getting pretty good with my collection. For example, if won't remove 'AC-DC' from the beginning of a song title, but it will remove 'CB30060-04 - '...

Let me know if anyone else thinks this will help make things go more quickly while cueing up singers at a gig... it's a totally optional feature if you don't like it, but I think it's much faster than manually editing the song title.

Note that if there are any lower-case letters in the prefix, it will NOT do anything... so "Sc2003-07" will be left alone. It's too difficult not to accidentally cut off an artist or group's first name otherwise...

We are working on the next update for Virtual DJ Studio. One thing we've added is the ability to show the singer's Name on the top of the Line while the song is playing. This way you don't forget who's singing. You can edit their name within the Line itself as well, and you can drag the song (and singer) back into the Karaoke Singer's list.

We are also playing with the Microphone Line feature - which is still in the experimental stages at this time. We're trying to reduce the lag, and we're considering an AutoTune-like feature, both for real use and for a fun effect at Karaoke parties...

Let us know if you have any other ideas for the next update, we'll discuss them with you and take them into consideration.

Thanks for supporting Virtual DJ Studio!
