Hey Justin:

I'm just getting around to some backed up email from a week ago...and saw this....that's really nice of you to put this together.

This doesn't apply to me because of my day job, but hopefully, it helps others.

Announcements / If you are Out of Work...

I don't know if anyone reads this anymore, but I'm throwing it out here anyway.

I've put together a website with resources for those Unemployed or out of DJ work (or any "gig work") due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

This is a legitimate site I created, gathering the appropriate links for all 50 US states and DC, in an attempt to make it easier to find the relevant information.

Just because you may not report or file your income, does not mean you cannot get assistance! "Gig Workers" are entitled to money from the state and federal government.

It's still not too late as of the date of this post, and most people should receive back pay all the way back to March. So don't wait, it cannot hurt to apply in your state of residence!

Visit the site and check it out:
Q & A / Re: Fade out to next song

Hey Craig!

Make sure you have "Always Default to Trigger enabled" checked under Crossfade options.  Also, make sure you've updated to at least 8.1.   There were some issues with 8.0.x with the fade out feature.

Q & A / Fade out to next song

Before version 8, I was able to use the control stop feature to fade out of a song playing to cue up my karaoke song. I can still do this but now when I control stop it doesn't cue up the next song. It goes back to the song that just played and faded out of. Is this suppose to do this? I didn't see a setting for this.

I realize this discussion forum hasn't been used in quite some time. I am leaving it up however, as it does still get some traffic from search results, and perhaps some of you would like to contribute now that a brand-new version has finally been released!

I'm proud to announce that on February 1st, 2020, Virtual DJ Studio 8 is out! This is *not* a free upgrade from the 7.x (aka 2015) series, however those of you who purchased 7.x in the last 12 months do get to take advantage of a $50 upgrade fee -- which happens to be just the price difference between the 7.x and the 8.x versions.

Most notably added to 8 is the support for Video playback. VDJ now supports MP4, M4V, AVI, and several other formats. In addition, VDJ supports Windows Media Audio (WMA) and Video (WMV), FLAC, AC3/AAC and other audio formats previously unsupported.

There are lots of other exciting new features in this version - you can try the Free Trial without affecting your existing 7.x install for 14 days before deciding to upgrade or purchase:

Support tutorials and videos will be coming soon...

Hi there,
this isn't as uncommon as you might think and the solution "might" be that your PC isn't seeing your external hard drive as the same drive letter as it did before.

If you have more than one USB peripheral plugged in, then the allocated drive letter changes depending on the order they are fitted.

You can "force" your PC to "see" your external drive as a specific drive letter fairly easily (just Google it) and if that's what's causing your problem, it should just go away.

Feature Suggestions / Re: Some issues and solution requests

Hi Fabio,
once again thanks are due for your detailed explanation above.

I have now shown VDJS to a few of my fellow KJ/DJ's and sadly, the comments are universal.

"Great program, shame about the Playlist".

Just a thought but earlier versions of the software had only TWO tabs above the search display window, while later ones have FOUR.

How possible would it be to transfer the Playlist file window down to this much larger box and provide a "Playlist" Tab?

Leave the controls, etc where they are but would this not allow for a much larger font for the file names?

Any thoughts?

Q & A / Re: Using 2 Audio Devices
« Last post by Fabio on November 02, 2018, 10:24:20 AM »

Personally I would do it the other way, usually external devices have better sound, most laptop soundcards are not great so you'd probably want the USB Soundcard to be your main, and the laptop sound to be your 2ndary.  Either Way, it should work regardless which one is set as the primary and which one is set as the 2ndary.  If you click the play button while your holding down the control key on your keyboard it should play the song in preview mode and the "preview light" should turn on.

BTW, I'm not sure what you mean by "I club the preview option", but I'm guessing you're clicking on the preview "light" which doesn't do anything. It's only meant to be a "light" to indicate when you're in preview mode on that line.

Also, if you don't remember the controls, if you right click on any line you can see that the "control-click" is the feature you're looking for.  See my attached screenshot.
