Q & A / Re: Microtuning playback.
« Last post by Fabio on March 31, 2018, 03:26:55 PM »
Unfortunately there is no way do it presently.  I'm not sure there's much call enough for it as it can change the karaoke mp3s with external software and replace the mp3 with the new one.  take a look at this website where it allows you to pitch shift to any percentage of the original so theoretically you can do what you want.

Q & A / Microtuning playback.

Is it possible to pitch shift playback less than half a tone? I'd like to be able to play along with music/karaoke tracks without having to retune my 12-string for each track. The dog howls and tries to chew my leg off.

Also, a significant number of tracks were not recorded at A=440 tuning or were mastered at 33 2/3 rpm or the band tuned B or B♭ to the 60Hz hum. ::)
Q & A / MP3 tags

V7.8.5 doesn't seem to use the tags for searching. My (music) library is thoroughly tagged. This especially impacts searching for tracks from various artist collections where the performer is not specified in the file path/name.
General Discussion / Re: Monitor Sound Output

Hi Ron:

That's pretty odd. As far as I know, there is no splitting of the sound for mains and monitors on VDJ.  Is your monitor speaker active (powered) or passive? Is Serato just a program or is there hardware to go along with it?  If there is hardware involved that is different than what you're using for for VDJ then that might explain it.  If for example this piece of Serato hardware might have a monitor output (xlr or 1/4" or some other connection) which might be powered.  This means your monitor speaker does not need to be be an active (powered) and it can be passive.  Conversely when you're using VDJ, you might be using a different piece of hardware (an amp/mixer) which does not have a powered output for the monitor.  This means the monitor needs to be powered in order for it to work.  For example, none of my mixers have a powered output for the monitor port, so I need the monitor to be powered.  If I connect a passive speaker no sound will come out of it.

I just re-installed it on a spare laptop just to verify and it is still there in 6.9.  And it is...You do need to save the singer and you do need to check the box under the saved singers tab (see my screenshot) to activate it.  The feature has not been added back in since it was removed after that.  It's partially my fault (maybe) that it was removed, I believe Justin asked about the feature when he was working on 7.x and I and others mentioned our singers thought it was weird to watch themselves in the background so Justin removed it.  I believe in a recent post Justin did mentioned that he was planning to add it back in since it appeared some people were using it.  I know I stopped using it after my singers mentioned it was weird for them and probably won't use it when he does add it back in, but there is no reason not to have it when other people are okay with it.

tmello - are you having this problem specifically on the 7.8.1 version? You say it works on the older version, but not the latest?

I don't know if uninstalling and doing a fresh install will fix it, but it's certainly worth a try... if that doesn't help, let me know, or shoot an email to Support@VDJ.Net and I'll look further into the problem.

You may need to uninstall the previous version completely instead of installing over it, but let's wait for Justin to comment before you do that...
