MyDjSongBook Web App / Re: Release Coming SOON (Limited Testing)

I just sent you the below info regarding the picture via email, but I'm posting it here for everyone to read:

As far as my phone taking pictures, it doesn't seem to be working when I tap "Choose a Photo" in Firefox for Android one of the choices is "Camera" but when I select it it just goes away and brings me back to the Choose Photo page.  It does give me options like Gallery, Photos and other weird selections like Dropbox, Zedge, Documents and I can select a picture from my photos or Gallery but the Camera doesn't seem to do anything.   Conversely, Chrome for Android doesn't show any other choices, but CAMERA but it does seem to allow me to take a picture.

Lastly, it does show my profile picture whether I upload it with Firefox or Take it with Chrome but there should probably be a submit button or something....right now all it shows is "Rotate Right" Rotate Left", "Take New Photo" and "Delete Photo".

Scrolling further down you do have the "Home" Page" button, "" and "Virtual DJ Studio" buttons, but I think the user is left wondering what to do next.

Perhaps if you add a submit button for the picture, you can display a tiny thumbnail someplace within the page as they move from page to page so they can see what they submitted. You can even allow them to select it which would bring them to the same page as my example above and allow them to replace it and submit it again.

FYI, my Android version is 7.0 (Nougat)

The picture isn't attached to a "request" per-se... it ends up attached to your browser's "unique_ID" cookie. So you can change your picture whenever you like, but the DJ has to "fetch" the updated picture when they want to update it on their end (within VDJ).

Any request will show whether a (new) picture is associated with that user, and you'll find the option to preview and then approve it.

I suppose I could add a button after a song request is made, *if* the user does not already have a picture on the server, prompting them to upload one. Just a pointer to the upload page, in case they weren't aware of it.

The only thing about doing it this way is that if they change browser/phone, or clear their cookies, or whatever, their picture will be "stale" -- eg, that unique ID no longer exists and that picture file will just sit on the server. I figure after a week or so pictures will just automatically get removed from the server (if you were going to use it in VDJ you would have pulled it by then).

Later on I will create a whole section where customers can OPTIONALLY create a "customer" account and manage more from there (saved searches/songs, multiple profile pics, favorite DJs, etc) but that's for another day :)

Lol....I was testing it...that's my go-to test song  :P  because everybody has "MY Way" by Frank.

Did you get the picture too?   This part seems a bit disconnected, perhaps when they request the song there should be a button to upload the picture don't have to change it just yet....I'm just thinking out loud... :-\

yeah, I saw that you mentioned about the removal of the feature (the thing about 25K maps displays per day) in another post.

I guess I need to get setup notifications for this new section, but I normally get notified about the other sections too, but I wasn't getting that either.  It's not the first time it has happened, so I just need to pop in every few days just to make sure.  :P

It is coming along nicely. If you were on it recently you may have noticed some glitches as I was working on some code.

The one thing that was bothering the living **** out of me, was that little black & white "menu" button in the upper-right. I can make it "fixed" so that it doesn't scroll with the page, that's no problem. But I couldn't (until just now with some tricky JavaScript) get it to stay within my 1000 pixel limit when used on the PC.

Now, on resize, it puts the "right" of the menu button where it needs to go (window width - content width (max of 1000 pixels) divided by 2). If the browser is less than 1000 pixels then it doesn't matter, it works as always. Only when maxed on the PC did it look "wrong" to me....

Sucks to be a perfectionist sometimes... but it does what it's supposed to do now :)

Anyway, got your request Fabio, and will play it shortly :) (Jamming Breaking Benjamin right now but we can change gears in a little bit :) )

I wonder if you have to sign up for notifications for each board (since I just created this section)? I don't know as I never use the notifications lol... I just check a few times a day...

<edit> Not *this* section, the new board dedicated to the app... </edit>

As for the map, I think you've since read that I only load maps upon request now. In place of the %MAP% variable will be a button: "Tap to Load Map". The actual map data only loads after you hit that button.

Otherwise I'd probably exceed my 25,000 map loads per day on a good night (anything more than 25k loads and I have to pay...) so I only contact Google when necessary.

In fact every part of my app is written with that kind of thing in mind - as browser-friendly as possible. All the "social media" links are static images - not pulled from the various social media servers (that would slow page load). The ONLY thing that I have zero control over is the advertisement, but Google is pretty good about enforcing rules on the ads, and they load after the rest of the page loads.

Wow, I had no idea Bluetooth was used by the cell phone towers...

Also, I forgot about the microwave with it's built-in faraday cage... that's very cool!

Wow, this pretty cool!  I didn't get to test mos of your posts because I'm late to the party and by the time I tried them, the results are not showing which probably means you're working on it and things have changed from your original posts.  I'm glad you decided to do away with the initial map!

I just started a new bar/restaurant this past Thursday and so far they're linking my karaokebook but the manager did mention that three different people were confused on how things worked and kept asking.  He suggested I change the website to give instructions.  I'm making some changes to the current one, but can't wait to use this one.

Apparently the forum has not been notifying me of new messages....I just happen to drop in and saw all these messages. ???

So I'll start commenting where appropriate

The map is nice but it can be a bit much if it has to load every time.
