Chapter 1: Introduction
Many people think that being a DJ is as simple as
having some music, some speakers, and a
microphone. Surely anyone with a laptop and a stereo
system can do it. It certainly isn't rocket science –
why, I could DJ that party myself; why hire someone
to do it when it's just so easy
.
If you really think about it, how many people could
just go apply for a job at a radio station, or show up at
a club and offer to be the Saturday night DJ, and
actually get hired. There must be some amount of
skill and experience required, otherwise why wouldn't
everybody be doing it.
So, why are DJs so expensive. Simple: it's not as easy
as it looks! As you read through this book, you will
realize that, while there
is
a lot involved, with the
right equipment, a few tips, and some practice, you
can
be that guy being
paid
to be the life of the party.
Hopefully this book will provide lots of information
that will help you build your sound system, get that
first gig, and continue making money doing
something you love to do.
Not everyone can be a DJ. You have to have a passion
for music and good customer service skills. It's not
enough to just love music, you have to know all types
