So You Want To Be A DJ.
“DJ John", but if you have a characteristic you can
exploit, your name may be more memorable.
Some DJ names are designed to make fun of the DJ.
For example, I have a friend who goes by “DJ
Polock", and another, who is bald, “DJ Cue Ball". The
idea is that if you make fun of yourself with your
name, the clients will see that you have a sense of
humor about yourself and you become more
approachable.
I go by “DJ J-Man". For some reason, all my life,
people have called me Jason, Jacob, or any other “J"
name than my own (Justin). I knew that if I went by
“DJ Justin", people would mix it up. “J-Man"
however is easy to remember.
Just make sure your name is unique. It can be
anything you like, as long as it doesn't offend. It
should either reflect your personality or appearance,
or be a play on your real name. The most important
thing is that people remember it, so try not to get too
obscure with your DJ name. This will be printed on
your business cards, as well as announced on the
microphone, so it shouldn't have an obscure spelling
or pronunciation...
