Color-Coding
One simple trick that will help your setup go much
more quickly is to color-code your microphones and
speaker wires. In my setup, I have two wireless
microphones; one has a band of blue electrical tape
near the bottom, the other red. I then put a piece of
tape on both ends of the cables that go from the
receiver to the mixer, and then a small square of tape
directly beneath each slider on the mixer itself.
This way, with a quick glance, I know which slider
needs to be turned up or down simply by the color
band on the mic.
I also put a band of tape on my speaker wires, and the
cables that go from the mixer to the amplifier. As a
rule of thumb, red is right, blue is left. This avoids
mixing up the left and right. This is important as
sometimes you might want to crank one speaker
